How do I send myself a test quote from my wardrobe configurator?

Last updated

Closetforge is a white-label 3D wardrobe configurator and quoting tool for fitted-wardrobe makers. Before your first customer gets a quote, you should get one. The test quote is a rehearsal: a real quote, built and priced the way a customer's is, sent only to you.

How to send it

The last row of the setup guide on Today (/admin), Send yourself a test quote, unlocks when the five steps above it are each done or set for later. Press Send me a test quote. One press:

  1. builds a quote from your first published design;
  2. prices it with your boards, rates, fittings and terms;
  3. makes the customer PDF and your workshop PDF; and
  4. emails it to your own address.

Two things have to be true first. Your own email address must be confirmed, because a test quote only ever goes to your own verified address. And at least one design must be published in your Catalogue (/admin/templates), because the test quote is built from the first one.

What it checks

The test quote goes through the same send gate as a customer's quote. If a fitting the design needs has no product or allowance, or its door glass has no price, the test quote is held back exactly as a customer's would be, and the quote page lists what to fix. Unlike a customer quote, a test quote cannot be sent past the gate: there is no override. When it does reach your inbox, you know a customer quote on that design would too.

The setup guide row turns green only when a test quote has actually been sent. A test that was held back does not count.

What you receive

You receive the quote email a customer would receive. The customer PDF and the online quote page carry the label TEST — not an offer.

Test quotes are kept apart from your business figures. They are numbered in their own T- sequence, so your customer quote numbers do not move. They are marked TEST in your Quotes list (/admin/quotes), and they are left out of your dashboard figures, your analytics and the reminders that follow up real customers.

Reading the workshop PDF

Open the quote from your Quotes list and go to the Workshop tab. Under Workshop documents you will find the Admin PDF (full breakdown). The customer never sees it. Read it top to bottom:

  • Pricing breakdown: every line the price is built from, by category, item, quantity and amount, then your markups, VAT and the total. Services (delivery & assembly) sits in its own section.
  • Cut list: every board part with its role (left side, shelf, drawer front, hinged door leaf…), material, size in millimetres and grain direction.
  • Bill of materials: the hinges, runners, handles and other fittings to order, with their details. A part that could not be priced is marked Not priced (excluded from total).
  • Sheet layout (billed): each sheet drawn with its parts placed, how much of it is used, and for each material the sheets the layout needs beside what your waste factor would buy. The quote is billed on whichever is more.

The same sheet layout is drawn on the quote page, with a legend for grain arrows and turned parts, and a button to Export cut list (CSV for MaxCut). The page calls it an estimate: check it in your own optimiser before you cut.

What to do with what you find

Most first test quotes show one thing that is not yours: a labour rate, a decor still on the country base price, or a handle allowance. Fix it on the page the line points to, then send another test quote.

If you would rather test with a real customer, press Skip — I'll test with a real customer. The row then shows Not tested, in grey.

Back to the first hour, or compare plans on the pricing page.
