Why won't the wardrobe configurator let me send this quote?

Last updated

Closetforge is a white-label 3D wardrobe configurator and quoting tool for fitted-wardrobe makers. This page explains the one rule that can stop a quote leaving your workshop, and the three ways past it.

The rule

A quote always computes. If a part of the design has no price, the platform still works out a total, draws the PDFs and shows you the quote. What it will not do is let that quote reach the customer, because the total would quietly leave the part out.

The parts that can be missing a price are your own data:

  • a board decor with no price per square metre, on Materials (/admin/materials);
  • an edge band with no price per metre, on Edge bands (/admin/edge-bands);
  • a hardware product with no price, on Hardware (/admin/hardware);
  • a fitting the design needs, such as a hinge, a drawer runner or a sliding track, with no product chosen for it, on Hardware defaults (/admin/hardware/defaults);
  • door glass with no rate per square metre, under Pricing (/admin/pricing).

In every price field, an empty value and 0 mean the same thing: not priced yet. A part is never billed at zero by accident.

What you see

On Today (/admin) a row counts the quotes you cannot send yet. On the quote itself the main button in the top strip reads Fix 1 unpriced item (or the number there are). When every missing price lives on one screen, the button takes you straight there. Otherwise it takes you to the Sending is blocked panel, which names each item with its own fix link.

Fix the prices, come back to the quote and press Regenerate to price it again. The new version picks up your prices, the gate opens, and Approve & send works as usual.

If automatic sending is on, a quote with a gap is not emailed: it waits for you, and you get an email saying why.

Sending without the missing prices

Sometimes you know a part is missing and want the quote out anyway, for example because you will price the fitting by phone. In the Sending is blocked panel choose Send without these prices…. The dialog lists the items whose cost is not in the total and asks you to confirm.

This is an override for one quote only. Your name, the time and the exact list of items are recorded on the quote, and the panel then reads "Override recorded by…" with that list.

When the override stops holding

The override covers the items you saw, not whatever the quote may lack later:

  • A new version with the same gaps, or fewer, keeps the override. Pricing one of three items does not make you confirm the other two again.
  • A new version with any new unpriced item blocks sending again. The panel says so, and you either price the new item or allow sending anew.

A test quote you send yourself has no override at all. It needs exactly what a customer quote would need, which is the point of sending one.

Why it works this way

A quote that reaches a customer with a part silently missing is a price you will have to honour or explain. Blocking the calculation would be worse: you could not even look at the design. So the platform always computes, and only holds the moment a priced document would leave your hands.
