What happens when a wardrobe configurator customer never types the SMS code?
Last updated
Closetforge is a white-label 3D wardrobe configurator and quoting tool for fitted-wardrobe makers. This page explains the SMS code a customer types when they ask for a quote, and what the platform does when they never type it.
Why there is a code
When a customer asks for a quote, your site texts a six-digit code to the mobile number they gave. Typing it proves the number is theirs, so the enquiries you work on come from real people. The code is valid for ten minutes, and the customer can press Resend code themselves if it does not arrive.
If the code is never typed
People get distracted, phones are switched off, and some texts never arrive. The platform does two things, in this order:
- One automatic re-send. If the code expires and nobody typed anything, or if the carrier reports the text was not delivered, your site sends a fresh code once. It never sends a second automatic one: a phone that refused two texts will refuse a third, and you would pay for each.
- A notice to you. If the second code also goes unused, you get one Unverified enquiry email for that quote. It names the customer, says when they asked, whether a code was re-sent and what the carrier said, and links to the quote. The customer's email address and phone number are partly masked in that email, because nobody confirmed them. The full details are on the quote.
If the customer typed a wrong code, they clearly received one, so no automatic re-send goes out. You are still told once their code has expired.
What you see in the back office
The enquiry is a real quote, priced and drawn like any other, even before the code is typed. On Quotes (/admin/quotes) it carries an Unverified chip, and on Today (/admin) a row counts the enquiries whose phone was never confirmed.
You can still work it. Ring or email the customer, check the details and send the quote. Before it goes, the platform asks you to confirm that you want to send to a number nobody confirmed.
Reading the delivery status of a text
Every text your site sends about a quote, including the code, appears in the Communications panel on the quote's Customer tab, newest first. The log keeps the fact that a code was sent, never the code itself. Each text shows a delivery state that is checked with the carrier every minute for the first day:
- Delivered: the carrier confirmed it reached the handset.
- Sending: not confirmed yet.
- Not delivered or Failed: the carrier refused it. A short hint explains the carrier's code, for example a landline, a switched-off phone or a number that replied STOP.
- Unknown: the carrier gave no answer within 24 hours. That is not the same as failed, so nothing is re-sent automatically on it.
Press Check delivery to ask again straight away. For a text with your quote link, Send again re-sends the same message after asking you to confirm.
What it does not do
The platform does not ring the customer, and it does not keep texting. One automatic re-send and one notice to you is the whole of it. After that, the enquiry is yours to follow up.
