How do I choose which fitted wardrobes my workshop builds?

Last updated

Closetforge is a white-label 3D wardrobe configurator and quoting tool for fitted-wardrobe makers. Every workshop builds a different range, so you tell the configurator what you make, and your customers are offered only that.

Where to set it

There are two places, and they edit the same setting:

  • The setup step. On a new workspace, the second row of the setup guide, What you build, opens /admin/setup/what-you-build. It is the quickest way through the first time.
  • Settings → What you build. The same lists live as a tab in Settings (/admin/settings), so you can change your mind later.

The wardrobe shapes

The shapes you can tick are:

  • Straight (rectangular): the ordinary run of cabinets.
  • Corner unit (diagonal front).
  • Over-bed bridge / bed surround: towers either side of a bed with a bridge across.
  • Under-stairs (stepped): a top that follows the steps.
  • Sloped / loft ceiling.
  • Open, no fronts (walk-in).

The interior fittings

The second list is the components a customer can put inside a wardrobe: shelves, drawers, hanging rail, shoe rack, trouser rack, mirror, LED strip, safe, tie / belt pull, laundry basket, TV niche, worktop / desk, TV and washing machine. Untick a fitting you never fit, and nobody can add it to a design.

What unticking does

Everything is ticked when your workspace is created. That is the answer "I build everything", and the setup step has a button with exactly that label. Unticking something has three effects:

  1. Your customers no longer see it. The shape or fitting disappears from the configurator on your site.
  2. The AI assistant declines it. If a customer asks the assistant for a shape you do not build, it says so instead of designing it.
  3. Starter designs of an unticked shape are archived. When you save, starter designs of the shapes you unticked are archived, and the step tells you how many before you confirm. They are not deleted: you can restore them from your Catalogue (/admin/templates). Designs you made or edited yourself are never touched.

Is it safe to press Later?

Yes. If you build everything, pressing Later on this step changes nothing: every shape stays on offer, which is how the platform behaves before you answer. The guide row stays open, marked "Later", and reminds you that every shape is offered.

The row turns green when you save the step, whether you saved a restriction or pressed I build everything.

What this does not cover

This setting is about shapes and fittings, not finishes. Which decors and boards customers can choose is set separately, on your boards step and the Materials page; see Boards and decors. Which hinge, runner or handle a quote orders is set under Hardware; see Fittings and hardware defaults.

A sensible way to decide

Tick what you would happily quote for next week, not everything you have ever built. Anything a customer can design is something you should be ready to price, so a shape you rarely make is better off than on and half-priced. Unticking is not final: tick a shape again and it is back on offer, though any starter designs that were archived stay in your Catalogue until you restore them. Your test quote then shows you what the workshop documents look like before a customer sees one.

For the rest of the setup, start from the first hour.
