How does the from price work on my wardrobe configurator catalogue?
Last updated
Closetforge is a white-label 3D wardrobe configurator and quoting tool for fitted-wardrobe makers. Your catalogue is the set of designs customers can start from. This page goes deeper into three things on each design: publishing it, the "from" price, and the pictures the platform makes for it.
Publishing a design
Catalogue (/admin/templates) lists your designs. Open one to see everything its public page shows. A design is a draft until you press Publish. Once published it is listed on your site under /predloge with its own page, and a customer can open it in the configurator and change it to fit their room. Unpublish takes it off the site and makes it a draft again.
Make it internal keeps a design for the workshop only. An internal design still gets its pictures, its price and its cut list, and you can link a finished project to it, but it is never shown to customers.
Publishing your own designs is not part of every plan; plans shows which include it.
The "from" price
A "from" price is one figure on a design's public page that tells a shopper whether you are in their budget. It is off for every design until you switch on Show a "from" price on the public page on that design.
What it is. The price of the wardrobe itself, as designed, VAT included. Delivery and installation are left out, even if your quotes normally fold installation into the wardrobe price, and the page says so. The exact price still comes from a quote.
How it is worked out. The same pricing engine that prices your quotes prices the design, with your current material prices, rates and markups. Nothing is typed in by hand and nothing is computed in the customer's browser. When you change your price list or edit the design, the figure is worked out again. After a change to a material price it can take a few minutes to reach the public page. Recalculate all prices in Catalogue re-checks every design that shows one, and tells you which figures moved.
When it does not show. The page shows no figure, and offers a quote instead, when:
- the switch is off for that design;
- the design cannot be priced, most often because a decor or part in it has no price (Catalogue says what is missing);
- the design is a walk-in made of several wardrobes, whose real price depends on the whole set;
- the figure is being refreshed at that moment, for example just after an update.
A "from" price is a separate question from your pricing mode. Your pricing mode decides whether customers see a running price while they design; this switch only decides whether one published design shows its starting figure.
Pictures and the assembly video
You never photograph a catalogue design: the platform draws it from the 3D model. Pictures start when you press Make pictures or when you publish. The short Assembly video is recorded once the design is published. When you change a design, its pictures are made again by themselves.
The Pictures and video panel on each design shows the state of every picture:
- Ready: drawn from the design as it is now.
- Out of date: the design has changed since; new pictures are on their way.
- Being prepared: waiting in the queue or being drawn now.
- Missing: not drawn yet.
- Failed: try again, and tell us if it keeps failing.
Pictures being made at the top of Catalogue is the queue for all your designs: how many pictures are being prepared and how many videos are being recorded. Pictures take a little while, and videos longer; you can keep working meanwhile.
You choose which pictures the public page shows and in what order. Refresh pictures and video is rarely needed: only after you replace a decor texture, or when the platform asks you to.
