Which finishes and constructions can customers pick in my wardrobe configurator?

Last updated

Closetforge is a white-label 3D wardrobe configurator and quoting tool for fitted-wardrobe makers. Beyond sizes and decors, your customers can choose how a wardrobe is finished and built. This page lists those choices by the names the editor gives them, and says what each one needs from you so it is priced. Which shapes and parts you offer at all is covered in what you build.

Painted fronts

On the Materials step, Painted finish lets a customer pick from Curated colours or Any colour, with an optional paint reference, and a Matt or Satin finish. The editor says what it means: painted on MDF, replacing a decor front. The Accent decor can be painted too, from the palette colours only.

Your side is on Pricing → Boards & painting (/admin/pricing): Board you spray onto. With a board chosen, a painted front is billed as that board plus the spraying, with a charge per colour. With none chosen, painted fronts are billed at a single all-in rate per square metre.

Accent decor

Add an accent decor gives the design a third decor for chosen doors, drawer fronts or shelves. The customer picks which ones on the Doors and Interior steps.

Edge bands

Customers do not choose edge bands; you do. Under Pricing → Edge banding, Exposed edges is the band on doors, drawer fronts and the outside of the carcass, and Inner edges is the band on shelf and divider fronts. Set both or neither. Filling both in usually raises your totals, because a visible thick edge stops being billed at the thin band's rate.

Drawers

On the Interior step, a drawer stack offers:

  • Drawer box: Wooden box, which you cut and fit on a pair of runners, or Metal box (LEGRABOX), which you buy, cutting only the bottom and back.
  • Front: Outside, or Inside, where the front sits inside the opening and fits behind a door.
  • Soft close and Push to open.

Under Pricing → Boards & painting, Drawer box a new design starts with sets which box a newly added drawer gets. It changes nothing already saved. The metal box needs a drawer-box product mapped under Hardware (/admin/hardware); without one, new designs keep the wooden box. The same card sets the board your drawer boxes, backs and drawer bottoms are cut from.

Sliding doors

On the Doors step, Door division splits a sliding leaf into plates: One plate, Glass leaf or Custom. Each plate is Main, Accent, Mirror or Glass, and glass can be Clear or Satin. Construction is Framed, with a profile between the plates, or Edged, with edge-banded plates held by the two upright profiles. Framed appears only once you have chosen that profile under Hardware.

One sliding front over several wardrobes

In the room plan, Shared sliding front runs one set of sliding doors across several wardrobes. The customer selects the wardrobes behind it and adds it, then picks the Top fixing: Floor to ceiling, offered only when a ceiling height has been given, or To the wardrobe tops. The wardrobes behind it build no doors of their own. The front appears on the quote as its own item.

Wall-hung units

On the Dimensions step, On the wall hangs a unit on two hangers and a wall rail, with no legs and no plinth. How high it hangs is set in the room plan. The hangers and rail are fittings you map under Hardware; until you do, a quote with a hung unit lists them as missing and cannot be sent.

Stacked units

In the room plan, a customer can drop one unit onto another to make a top box. The top box must be no wider or deeper than the unit beneath it, and needs a flat top under it: not a sloped, stepped, bridge or corner unit, and never a wall-hung one. One base can carry several boxes.

Before you offer them

Each of these is priced from your own rates and fittings. Build one of each in a design and send yourself a test quote to see what it costs.
