Which text messages does my wardrobe configurator send, and did they arrive?
Last updated
Closetforge is a white-label 3D wardrobe configurator and quoting tool for fitted-wardrobe makers. Your site sends a small number of text messages to customers. This page lists them, explains how you can see whether each one reached the phone, and says which ones you can send again.
What a customer can receive by text
There are three kinds, and nothing else is ever texted to a customer:
- The verification code. When a customer asks for a quote, a code is texted to the number they gave. Typing it confirms the number. If it is never typed, the platform re-sends once by itself; see unconfirmed enquiries and SMS codes.
- The quote link. On a quote you have already sent, Send by SMS texts the customer a link to the public quote page.
- A reminder. Only if you switched on follow-ups and ticked the SMS option: one text with the same link on the first reminder. See follow-up reminders.
The quote-link text
Send by SMS opens a dialog with the default message. You can edit it before sending, within some rules:
- The quote link stays. If you delete it, it is added back on its own line. No other link can be sent.
- A counter shows the length and the number of billed segments as you type. A message that is too long is refused, with the reason.
- Accented letters and emoji make every segment shorter, so they are simplified before sending. The dialog shows exactly what the customer will receive.
The text can only follow a quote that has been approved and sent. It never replaces the send, and a quote held back by unpriced items cannot be texted either.
Two questions: was it sent, and did it arrive?
Every text appears in the Communications panel on the quote's Customer tab. Each row answers two separate questions.
The first is whether your site handed the message to the SMS provider. The second is what the mobile network did with it afterwards. A message can be sent and still not delivered, and the two have different fixes: a sending failure is a setting or a malformed number, a delivery failure is the customer's phone or network.
The delivery chip shows one of these:
- Delivered, with the time the network confirmed it.
- Sending: not confirmed yet. The panel says how long ago it last checked.
- Not delivered or Failed: the network refused it. A short hint explains the network's code: a number that is not valid, a landline, a switched-off phone, a message filtered as spam, or a customer who replied STOP to the sender.
- Unknown: see below.
- No delivery record: the message never reached the provider.
Why "Unknown" is not "Failed"
The platform asks the network about every text every minute for the first 24 hours. If there is still no final answer after that, the row is closed as Unknown. Nobody saw it fail, so the platform does not say it failed, and nothing is re-sent automatically on an unknown text.
Check delivery asks the network again straight away, on any row.
What can be sent again
- The quote link: yes. Send again re-sends the same message to the same number, after asking you to confirm. If it was already delivered, the confirmation says when and asks anyway, because you may have a reason, such as a customer who deleted it. A re-send goes through the same checks as a first send, so the quote must still be sendable.
- The verification code: no. The log never stores the code, and a new one replaces the old one anyway. The row offers Check delivery only. The customer can ask for a fresh code on the form themselves.
If a text keeps failing, ring the customer or send the link by email. A wrong number can be corrected on the quote's contact card.
